Menai Bridge

Commercial cleaning in Menai Bridge, done properly

Menai Bridge sits at the Anglesey end of the suspension bridge, close enough to Bangor that we treat the two as one working area. What makes it different is the marine science — Bangor University's School of Ocean Sciences is here, with the labs and aquaria that go with it.

Those buildings need their own specification. Lab and aquarium spaces have restrictions a normal contract ignores. There are surfaces and chemicals that must not go near tanks or sample stores, areas you can only enter with the right person present, and equipment that is expensive and easy to disturb. We agree in writing what is in scope and what we leave alone before we start. Guessing in a building full of live experiments is how something costly gets ruined.

The town is small, Victorian and mostly stone or rendered, running down to the water at St George's Pier. There is a compact centre, a good deal of rental and holiday accommodation, and the usual cafés and independent shops. The Strait is right below all of it, which drives the outside work — salt reaches anything with a view of the water, and the shaded walls backing onto the woods green up quickly.

We soft wash here as a rule. Much of the stock is old, some listed or in the conservation area, and a lance is the wrong tool on lime render. Windows facing the Strait want doing monthly.

Menai Bridge and Bangor are close enough that we treat them as one working area.

Yes, including at the School of Ocean Sciences. Research buildings need the scope agreed in writing before we start — which surfaces we clean, which chemicals we are allowed to use near tanks and sample stores, which areas need someone present, and what we deliberately leave alone. That conversation is the job. Guessing in a building full of live experiments is how something expensive gets ruined.

Yes, and most clients here do. The two are a few minutes apart and we run them as one area, so a contract covering premises on both sides of the Strait costs no more in travel and gets the same crew. It also means we can respond quickly to either at short notice.

Usually not, and we will say so on the visit. A lot of Menai Bridge is old stone and lime-based render, some of it listed or in the conservation area, and pressure washing damages both. We soft wash instead — low pressure with a biocidal treatment that kills the growth at the root and leaves the fabric alone.

About monthly through the year for anything with a clear view of the water. The Strait is tidal and the salt haze is constant, so glass dulls quickly even when it has not rained. Premises set back into the town can usually go quarterly, and we will tell you which you are after looking.

Yes. Llangefni, Beaumaris, Benllech, Amlwch and across to Holyhead are all a normal run, and we cover the whole island with no call-out charge.
