Commercial cleaning in Bangor

Bangor is where most of our work starts. Three very different kinds of client sit within a mile of each other here, and they all want something different from a cleaner.

The university has a big estate — teaching buildings, labs and student accommodation. Its cleaning year runs on the academic calendar. The serious work happens in the summer vacation and over changeover weeks, when a building can actually be emptied. Those dates are fixed and they fill up early.

Ysbyty Gwynedd and the clinics around it need a different standard again. Clinical waste has to leave through a licensed route with paperwork that stands up to inspection. Then there is the city centre itself, where the older buildings and the mix of shops, offices and cafés throw up jobs no template covers.

The buildings matter more than people expect. Much of central Bangor is Victorian or Edwardian, stone or rendered, and a lot of it is split into flats. That means shared stairwells, communal areas nobody owns, and glazing you cannot reach from the ground because of the drop to the pavement. Student housing up Holyhead Road and around Glanrafon turns over almost entirely in a few summer weeks, so end-of-tenancy cleans come in one concentrated spike.

Weather drives the outside work. Bangor sits in a hollow between the Strait and the hills. It is wet even for North Wales, and north-facing render greens up fast. We soft wash those walls — a pressure lance would take the face off. Salt off the Strait dulls glass on anything with a view of the water, so premises down towards the pier need their windows done more often than those up the hill.

Cyngor Gwynedd is the council here, and most commercial work in the city goes through them, the university or the health board. All three check your accreditation and insurance before they let anyone near a building. That is why we hold SSIP through SMAS and carry £10m cover.
